WORLD LIGHTING FAIR 2010

World Lighting Fair 2010: Marking 25 Years

"Lighting Performance," an annual event for lighting professionals, began in 1986. Three years later, it was succeeded by the biannual World Lighting Fair. 2010 marks the Fair's 25th anniversary.

During these 25 years, rapid changes in technology and the global market called for uniquely Japanese perspectives. World Lighting Fair, or WLF, has become recognized as a significant international, industrial stage lighting trade show. It has become a valuable forum, giving lighting professionals the opportunity to get together and exchange ideas about the latest technological developments in their field.

46 corporations and groups (29 domestic; 17 foreign) participated in WLF 2008 at the Pacifico Yokohama. It also welcomed 20,000 visitors from all over the world.

New Beginnings

WLF 2010 will shift its main focus from an emphasis on exhibits and displays of hardware to seminars and workshops. Though exhibitions will still be offered, the chance to interact in workshops will allow participants and visitors to take a more hands-on approach to the Fair. This shift in focus is only one of many improvements put into place for this year’s event. WLF will also take place at a different venue - the Tokyo International Forum - a very appropriate venue to enable the exchange of ideas.

Experiencing the Global Entertainment Industry

This year, the WLF will offer an opportunity for everyone, novices and professionals alike, to enjoy various seminars and workshops about new developments in technology worldwide. These topics include the latest innovations in lighting designs from Europe and Asia, urban environmental lighting, eco-friendly technologies, and safety regulations.
